Northern Ireland Press Photographers Association's photographs often made the news. Local photographers, usually the first on the scene, showed us the the grim aftermath of a life in Northern Ireland punctuated by the 'Troubles'. Many of these photographs have become iconic images around the world. A good press photograph affects us profoundly - it makes us a witness to the ineluctable fact that what we are looking at actually happened. Some of these photographs formed part of poignant exhibits at both the Ormeau Baths Gallery and gtGallery in Belfast.

This book comprises an unique photographic portrayal of life in Northern Ireland since the 1970's. The photographs are prehaps all the more remarkable because they capture moments in an extraordinary passage in the history of Northern Ireland.
